Gas Technician G.2 (G2, G-2) Certificate in Ontario

In Ontario, the certifications for Gas Technicians are administrated by the TSSA (Technical Standards & Safety Authority). The certification G2 is the Intermediate level for Gas Technicians in Ontario.

To take the G2 certification exam, the applicant must hold a G3 certificate when he or she applies. The exam for G2 is based on the Gas Technician Certification Training Modules, 10 to 24, of the CSA (24 books), the code books CAN/CSA-B149.1-15/20 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, the B149.2.15/20 Propane Storage and Handling Code and other related provincial regulations and codes.

In Ontario, to obtain a TSSA qualification certificate as a Gas 2 or G.2 Technician, a student must:

a. Successfully complete an academic and technical training program delivered through a TSSA accredited training provider (college or technical institute).

b. Obtain an overall average of 75% or higher on TSSA certification exams for G.2 certificate.

c. Obtain an average score of 75% or more in the practical evaluation of the applicable modules within the training program.

d. Maintain a minimum attendance record of 80% throughout the training program.
