Gas Technician G-3 Certificate in Ontario

In Ontario, the certifications for Gas Technicians are administrated by the TSSA (Technical Standards & Safety Authority). The certification G3 is the entry level for Gas Technicians.

To take the G3 certification exam, work experience is recommended (but not mandatory) and/or at least a 110 hours course of combined theory and practical hands-on experience A 75% passing grade is required to successfully achieve Gas Technician 3 Certification.

The exam for G3 is based on the first 9 books of the CSA Standard modules (24 books), the code books CAN/CSA-B149.1-20 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, the B149.2.10 Propane Storage and Handling Code and other related provincial regulations and codes. The G.3 certification's scope are written in the ONTARIO REGULATION 348/96 and the ENERGY ACT.

In Ontario, to obtain a TSSA qualification certificate as a Gas 2 or G.2 Technician, a student have to obtain an overall average of 75% or higher on the TSSA certification exams for G.3 certificate. The exam for Gas Technicians G3 is based on the Gas Technician Certification Training Modules, 1 to 10, of the CSA (24 books), the code books CAN/CSA-B149.1-20/20 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, the B149.2.15/20 Propane Storage and Handling Code and other related provincial regulations and codes.
